The Uncanny Places project deals with the feeling of strangeness that certain images may convey. Capture arises from a sensory reality, and the visual effect which is created leaves somewhat a wandering notion, one of open possibilities. Somewhat due to the presence of subliminal elements, much like signs, or bundled forces which produce a certain ambiguity. This viewpoint has become the leitmotif of my project: the distinction between reality and appearance as heightened by their strangeness, regardless of the emerging reading, awe, fear, non-conformity with the real, its integration into narratives or concepts of unreality. |
This is why these are situations where nothing can be taken for granted, but can be seized by feeling and intuition. Above all, they intend to be images open to explanation; the “Uncanny” concept carries this amplitude and enhances the different approaches which interact and bring themselves to a whole. |
